Doug Ford addressed media on Tuesday, announcing the launch of his government's "all-out plan" to protect the vulnerable and to slow the spread of COVID-19.

"We will fortify the iron ring of protection," said Ford, saying that they will go further in screening and outbreaks. Ford said that strengthening protocols and that increasing distribution of PPE was vitally important, and would be delivered within 24 hours or less.

"We're focusing on prevention," said Ford, saying that long term care homes with no outbreaks will be given strict protocol and plans in case that were to take place.

Minister Fullerton announced that more aggressive screening, testing, and surveillance would be launched within the next 48 hours, screening all symptomatic staff and residents in care homes, as well as asymptomatic contacts.

An emergency order passed last night ensured that long term care home employees can only work in one home at a time, the premier said.

Ontario announced 51 new deaths and 494 new cases on Wednesday, according to the province's health officials.

The new total stands at 8,447 in Ontario, with 385 deaths. There have been 3,902 recoveries.

Data reveals 6,010 tests were completed in Ontario on Tuesday—short of the 8,000 daily tests promised by the government for this point in time. Over 119,000 Ontarians have been tested for coronavirus to date.
