The former co-host of "Coach's Corner" Ron MacLean will be attending a virtual Liberal Party of Canada fundraiser.
The Liberal MP for Milton, Adam van Koeverden, announced the event in a Facebook post, where he wrote "Our friend Ron MacLean has very generously offered to help us finish 2020 with a little fundraiser to ensure that our next election is well funded."
The event, called "A conversation about sport and politics in Canada," will take place virtually on Friday. To attend the event, donors can expect to pay $400. Van Kooeverden flipped the riding of Milton in 2019, defeating former Conservative Party deputy leader Lisa Raitt.
Fans across Canada were disappointed with Ron MacLean after MacLean "threw Cherry under the bus" following his controversial comments on the poppy in November 2019. Cherry said on the broadcast, "You people love … you people that come here, whatever it is, you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey. At least you could pay a couple of bucks for a poppy or something like that." Cherry would end up being fired just one week later.
Since his firing, Don Cherry has been hosting his "Sour Grapes podcast" which can be listened to across all streaming platforms.
