Four Medicine Hat men were arrested after a police investigation led to the seizure of a cache of computers and devices containing child pornography, according to CTV News.

The internet child exploitation unit (ICE) of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) conducted the online child pornography investigation which resulted in four arrests from May 12 to 14.

"Sadly, our ICE unit has been inundated with cases involving online child exploitation during the COVID-19 pandemic. While people are spending more time online, I can't emphasize enough the need to implement safe internet practices and know-how in order to protect our children," said ALERT CEO, Supt. Dwayne Lakusta.

Blaine Vadnais, 78, is facing child pornography charges along with 43-year-old Jeremy Unruh, 34-year-old Owen Michael Monteith and 27-year-old Thomas Bindr.

ALERT officials say that they currently don't know of any definitive link between the men and none of them work in authority or professions of trust.

In total, 43 computers and devices were seized by police and a full forensic analysis will be conducted on them.
