Four-year-old boy allegedly shoots at police during father's arrest

In February, 27-year-old Sadaat Johnson was arrested after allegedly brandishing a gun at a McDonald's drive-thru in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Recently released bodycam footage reveals that during the ensuing altercation with police, a single shot rang out, believed to have come from a gun fired by Johnson's 4-year-old son.

The footage begins with police asking Johnson to exit his vehicle. When he refuses, officers use force to extract him, pushing him to the concrete.

"Gun!" an officer shouts, and after a few seconds, a shot rings out.

"Drop the gun!" the officer calls out, moving towards the vehicle, wherein Johnson's children are crying.

"Are you all right, kid?" a female officer asks as she coaxes them out.

According to ABC4, court records show Johnson's son shot at police because "he wanted his daddy back." He is alleged to have instructed the boy to shoot at police, however, it is unclear as to when that was said.

As the New York Post reports, Johnson later pleaded guilty not only to aggravated assault, but child abuse or neglect as well. He was sentenced to 120 days in jail, and three years probation. In addition, Johnson was asked to attend anger management and parenting classes, and can no longer own firearms.

Johnson  apologized for his actions, adding that "it was a very stupid mistake" that he "should have never made."

His son was taken into protective custody following the incident, which Sgt. Melody Cutler described it as unlike anything she'd ever seen during her twenty-seven years in law enforcement.

"That a 4-year-old even knows how to utilize a firearm and point it at an officer and pull the trigger is incredibly disturbing," she added.
