Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order that bans mask and vaccine mandates in the Lone Star State, as the Biden administration is pushing for both to be implemented.
The Daily Mail reports Abbott signed the order to promote "individual right and responsibility" in Texas. "Today's executive order will provide clarity and uniformity in the Lone Star State's continued fight against COVID-19," Abbott said, noting that the executive order "emphasizes that the path forward relies on personal responsibility rather than government mandates."
Mask mandates are making a comeback in some parts of the United States, after the CDC reversed it's previously issued guidelines that stated fully vaccinated people no longer had to wear masks.
On top of mask mandates, vaccine mandates are also becoming the norm in Democrat strongholds and liberal environments.
Many businesses and colleges have announced that they will require people to be vaccinated, and yesterday President Joe Biden announced that federal employees would have to get the shot or face heavy restrictions.
Abbott, who lifted all COVID-19 restrictions in his state back in March, joins other pro-freedom governors in fighting back against the push for new mask and vaccine mandates. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem have also rejected calls for new restrictions to be implemented.
