Two people have been transported to hospital after a gun was allegedly pulled out at a grocery store in downtown Toronto on Friday. Another person has been taken into custody according to CP24 News.
Police received a call shortly before 2 p.m. about someone carrying a gun in a Loblaw’s on Queen and Portland.
Police said that a fight started between two shoppers after one of the shoppers claimed the other one was staring at him.
One of the shoppers began using his phone to film the incident, and that was when the other shopper pulled out a gun, according to police.
The gun was taken away by employees after they managed to subdue the man.
Another video of the scene filmed by Newstalk1010 showed many men trying to control the suspect as shoppers ran from the scene, leaving their carts behind.
Shortly after that, police were able to show up and make the arrest.
“The cops were here super-fast. I’m just happy everyone worked together on that one,” said one of the employees who helped to stop the man.
The two others taken to the hospital only suffered minor injuries according to Toronto Paramedic Services.
The gun was recovered by Toronto Police.
While fear of the ongoing spread of coronavirus is causing some panic in grocery stores especially, consumers are being asked to remain calm and treat others with courtesy.
