More than half a million people have joined GETTR, a pro-free speech social media alternative. The surge in popularity was sparked by Joe Rogan joining the platform on Sunday.
"Just in case shit over at Twitter gets even dumber, I'm here now as well. Rejoice!" Rogan wrote on his GETTR account Sunday afternoon. Since then, half a million new users have joined GETTR, bringing the entire user database to over four million.
"With a simple Tweet, Joe Rogan destroyed Big Tech and tore apart the chains of political discrimination holding back millions of patriots," GETTR CEO Jason Miller told The Post Millennial. "Goodbye, social media oligarchs - there's no coming back from this."
Rogan jumped over to the new platform following Twitter's decision to ban his most recent guest, Dr. Robert Malone. Twitter also recently banned Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from their platform, citing multiple violations of the social media giant's COVID-19 policies.
"They removed you for not going along with whatever the tech narrative is because tech clearly has a censorship agenda when it comes to COVID in terms of treatment, in terms of the— whether or not you're promoting what they would call vaccine hesitancy, they can ban you for that, they can ban you for in their eyes, what they think is a justifiable offence," Rogan told Malone.
"I try really hard to give people the information and help them to think, not to tell them what to think. Okay? But the point is if I'm not — if it's not okay for me to be part of the conversation, even though I'm pointing out scientific facts that may be inconvenient, then who is who can be allowed?" Malone said later in the conversation.
GETTR launched earlier this year as a competitor to Twitter. Jason Miller, a former senior adviser to the Trump administration and CEO of GETTR, said in July that the platform will remain open to opinions from any end of the political spectrum.
Other prominent figures have since followed Joe Rogan to the new platform, including Dr. Jordan Peterson, Dr. Bret Weinstein, Dr. Gad Saad, Dave Rubin, Andy Ngo and others.
GETTR is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play App Store. It is also available on desktop at www.GETTR.com
