Organizers of anti-lockdown protests in Hamilton that took place on January 3 and 10 have been charged for breaking the Reopening Ontario Act.

The protests had an attendance of 40 and 60 people, which is over the limit of people that the Ontario government has imposed on outdoor gatherings.

Both events were attended by the Hamilton Police, who later charged the individuals. People convicted for violating Doug Ford's Reopening Ontario Act can face a fine of up to $10,000.

A 27-year old Hamilton male and a 38-year-old female were both charged with failure to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order as per Ontario Regulation 82/20, of the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020, section 10.1(1) and failure to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order as per Ontario Regulation 82/20, of the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020, section 10.1(1)

Police are asking people to respect the restrictions and to stay home if they are ill. They also reminded people to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
