The return of former Anakin Skywalker actor, Hayden Christensen, to play Darth Vader in the new Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, was announced Thursday by Lucasfilm.

The new series will take place 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and feature both Ewan McGregor, who originally played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars sequels, alongside Christensen who formerly played an adolescent Anakin Skywalker, according to StarWars.com.

"It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker,” said Christensen.

"Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren't on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back," he continued.

In October, Ewan McGregor said filming for the series will begin in March 2021, Cnet reports.

"Those two will have another swing at each other," McGregor said.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy remarked "This will be the rematch of the century."
