Historical sexual assault charges being faced by retired Hamilton teacher

A retired school teacher in Hamilton has been charged in connection with two historical sexual assaults, CP24 reports.

Police said in a news release that 57-year-old Hamilton resident John Douglas Hashimoto was arrested by HPS' sexual assault unit.

Hashimoto has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.

Hashimoto worked for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board from 1987 to 2019.

According to police, he was also worked as a youth basketball coach.

Investigators say there may be more victims and ask anyone with information to contact police or Crime stoppers.
