A home invasion in Sarnia was called off after the invaders realized that they had entered the wrong residence, according to Sarnia police.

Residents in a home in Sarnia were peacefully watching TV in their living room when they suddenly heard a door smashed. Upon investigating the threat, the residents were confronted by two men, one of whom was carrying a hammer as a weapon.

The man with the hammer demanded that he be repaid money which he believed to be owed to him.

After a conversation between the residents and the home invaders, however, the home invaders realized they had broken into the wrong address. The criminals apologized and agreed to pay for the damage caused to the house by their misidentification.

After the two men left, police were called and they were arrested without further incident.

Deanis John Smith of Keswick and Cameron Joseph Kemmis of Sarnia, both 27, have been charged with breaking and entering, mischief, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
