The London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) in London, Ontario fired a woman who worked in the neonatal intensive care unit after it was discovered that she attended an anti-lockdown protest in the United States, CTV News reports.

An investigation into Kristen Nagle was opened in November by the LHSC after she attended an anti-lockdown rally. Earlier this month, a video emerged of her speaking at an anti-lockdown protest, calling lockdown measures "crazy," prompting a second investigation by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

In the video Nagle, who has worked as a nurse since 2006, also spouts her opposition to personal protective equipment and "synthetic drugs."

While the CNO investigation remains ongoing, the LHSC investigation has now been completed, resulting in Nagle being fired.

"While we are not able to address the specifics of the investigation, we can confirm that the nurse has been terminated with cause," the LHSC said in a statement. "Safeguarding the health of our patients and their families, staff and physicians is of the utmost importance and remains our top priority."

A petition has been made in Nagle's defense, garnering over 1,300 signatures.
