The first son and his lawyers had requested more time to prepare, but Independence County Circuit Judge Holly Meyer refused the grant their wishes.
According to the Daily Mail, Lunden Roberts, the woman with whom Biden has a four-year-old daughter, recently revealed that her legal team had retained Garrett Ziegler as an expert witness.
Ziegler and Biden have a long history. The latter sued the former for trying to obtain knowledge about the infamous laptop via his conservative non-profit Marco Polo.
Biden's lawyer, Brent Langdon, explained that given Ziegler's research into Biden's finances, the desire to have more time to prepare was not "for purposes of delay or to cause prejudice to any party but rather so that justice may be obtained by all parties."
As the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports, however, Judge Meyer was having none of it.
"From now on ... I want both of your clients at every hearing I conduct," Meyer said. "I will no longer allow us to excuse clients ... because it is interfering with the progress of litigation, which is taking way too long to get over simple points."
Clinton Lancaster, Roberts' lawyer, slammed Biden and his team for their antics, saying, "His method is always the same. Delay, deny, and avoid with a side of word-salad."
This is not the first time Roberts and Biden have gone to court over their daughter, Navy Joan. In 2019 she won a reported $2.5 million settlement after proving "with near scientific certainty" that he was the father.
Roberts has also sought to give Navy Joan the right to use the Biden last name, however, no agreement has been made on that issue. Joe Biden has never met the child, and in a recent speech, he listed off all his grandchildren's names and she was not included.
