On Tuesday, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer revealed that the Treasury Department had finally allowed members to look over suspicious activity reports covering transactions related to President Biden and his family. Included in one of the reports was a $3 million wire payment from a now defunct Chinese energy firm to John Robinson Walker, a former federal official and associate of Joe's son, Hunter

Comer stated that the Committee would be analyzing the wire, which was sent just two months after Biden left the office of the vice-president in 2017, as well as alleged wires from Walker to Biden family members sent the next day, to see whether Biden was compromised in any way.

"We discovered that [Walker] got a $3 million wire two months after Joe Biden left office," Comer said, "and then the very next day, from that account … they started wiring money to Biden family members, plural."

"There were three different Biden family members that received a cut from that $3 million," he continued, "including a new Biden family member that's never before been included in any of these investigations."

Comer vowed to "continue to use bank documents and suspicious activity reports to follow the money trail to determine the extent of the Biden family's business schemes, if Joe Biden is compromised by these deals, and if there is a national security threat."

He slammed the Treasury Department for trying to "stonewall" the investigation after the agency failed twice to respond to his demands for the documents. The New York City gallery owner who displayed Hunter's paintings has also pushed back against attempts to hand over documents.

On Monday, however, Democrat Ranking Member of the Committe Rep. Jamie Raskin announced that Comer had issued a subpoena to Bank of America demanding fourteen years of bank records for three of Hunter's associates, including Walker.

"This is an investigation of Joe Biden," Comer said in an attempt to turn the media attention away from Hunter. "We're investigating the Biden family, and again, after this new batch of information, it expands. There are more family members involved in this than just the president’s son."

As the New York Posts reports, Comer noted that when it came to the payment from the Chinese firm to Walker, members failed to identify any purposes for the wires that related to actual business.

“They don't manufacture anything, they don't sell anything, they don't own any real estate," Comer said of the firm, CEFC China. "My theory is, it’s influence-peddling, and if so, that's wrong."
