Madeleine Westerhout, an ex-executive assistant to US president Donald Trump and Director of Operations for the Oval Office, has come forward to talk about her brand new book: “Off the Record: My Dream Job at the White House, How I Lost It, and What I Learned,”, according to Fox News.

The book is available online and in brick and mortar stores today. It talks about how she wound up getting fired for an indiscretion on her part where she divulged confidential information to reporters off the record, violating the terms of her employment.

“I take full responsibility,” Westerhout states, saying that she had had too much to drink that night and ended up speaking more than she otherwise would have in the company of journalists.  Westerhout goes on to comment on the issue, “On a rare day off, after a couple of drinks by the pool, I accepted an invitation to an off-the-record dinner with four reporters and a White House colleague of mine. And at that dinner, I said some things that I didn’t mean and that I never should have said. And I deeply regret that but I take full responsibility for my actions that night and really regret that I hurt people that I care about very, very much.”

Westerhouse claims she felt the need to write the book to set the public straight about what really happened, as she feels the media has been taking advantage of the situation to try and unfairly discredit President Trump. She feels the need to state her unwavering opinion that President Trump is not a misogynist, and make sure that people understand that she was dismissed from her position for a perfectly good reason, and that there was nothing unfair about it.

“There is so much about the president that I think is misrepresented. I think the mainstream media really doesn’t treat him fairly and doesn’t report on him truthfully …. And so, the one thing that I found so fascinating about President Trump is his deep admiration and respect for women. He promotes women. He surrounds himself with strong, intelligent women. He is married to one; he has raised two of them. And every interaction that I’ve seen and I’ve had with him has been just showing what — how much President Trump respects women.”

The US President is famous for clashing with the media, mainstream or otherwise. He as currently filed a libel lawsuit against CNN.
