It was last Sunday that Linda Oswald and her husband were taking a drive on Idaho State Highway 41. They got into a crash with another vehicle and their 2-year-old border collie Tilly was ejected through the rear window. He ran away.

Strangers who witnessed the track pulled over and aided in the search for the missing pup. A search effort that day lasted for roughly ten hours before they gave up and went home.

The Oswald family credits their Facebook post asking for the public’s help in searching, which brought Tilly back home.

Indeed it was thanks to the Potter family farm in Rathdrum, Idaho that the dog was found. According to Spokesman-Review one of the brothers tried calling their Australian shepherd dogs back from the fields.

“Hooey really comes right away when you call him, and this dog put its ears back and started running off,” Travis Potter told the outlet.

It was Zane Potter that looked closer and realized it was Tilly. The crash happened roughly a mile and a half away from their farm.

So the sheep connection was only natural. “I think that dog was trying to herd,” Travis Potter said.

The Oswald family agrees. “He’ll herd anything,” they said. “When I go to the dog park, he tries to herd the people into one group.”

It was on Tuesday, two days after the accident, that the Oswald family and Tilly reunited. He reportedly drank out of the toilet immediately upon returning home, because he was thirsty.
