Jeopardy! announced on Monday that the television personality and professor Dr. Oz will be joining the program as a guest host, a move which immediately sparked backlash on social media.

The show has brought on a number of guest hosts to replace the late host Alex Trebek. Trebek was widely hailed as a legendary figure in television history for his long career on Jeopardy!

Dr. Oz, whose real name is Mehmet Oz, will be hosting the show for two weeks.

However, critics of Dr. Oz took issue with the announcement, arguing that Oz is known for promoting pseudoscience.

A petition signed by over 500 former contestants on the show has also circulated, calling for Jeopardy! to not host Dr. Oz.

Neither Dr. Oz nor Jeopardy! have responded to the controversy, although Oz did express delight in having been chosen to host the game show.
