President Joe Biden repeatedly told the American public that he was neither engaged in nor had knowledge of his son Hunter Biden's business dealings. Yet, reports keep emerging that this may very well have been a blatant and thorough untruth.
While Joe Biden was VP in the Obama administration, he met with at least 14 business associates of his son, who has become notorious for engaging in influence peddling on the Biden family name and his father's powerful positions, along with his uncle Jim Biden.
Biden met with associates of Hunter's from the US, Mexico, Ukraine, China, and Kazakhstan all while he served as Vice President of the United States, Fox reports. An email from April 24, 2017 details an ask from Hunter for photos from a lunch held in Biden's office. Visitor logs from the Obama White House confirms the lunch and its attendees.
"Two of Hunter’s Mexican business associates, Miguel Aleman Velasco and Miguel Aleman Magnani visited the West Wing on Feb. 26, 2014, according to the Obama White House visitor logs, and Joe was later photographed with Hunter giving Velasco and Magnani a tour of the White House Brady Press Briefing room," Fox reports.
Biden said in 2019: "I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings." He repeated this while on the campaign trail in 2020, and in 2022 White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki repeatedly said that the President had not spoken to his son about his business dealings.
The White House claimed that the Department of Justice was "independent" in its investigatory practices into the younger Biden, and that the president had never done business "favors" for his son. Hunter Biden is currently being probed for potential tax fraud, money laundering, and illegal lobbying on behalf of foreign enterprises.
Additional emails from the notorious laptop showed a video conference between Biden and another Hunter association, "Carlos Slim, a Mexican billionaire with whom Hunter was seeking to do business with at the time, on Oct. 30, 2015."
A meeting ensued shortly after that video conference, in which "Slim, Velasco and Magnani attended a meeting with Joe, Hunter, and Hunter’s business partner and family friend Jeff Cooper at the vice presidential residence at Number One Observatory Circle, Washington DC, according to photos dated Nov. 19, 2015.
Additional meetings took place in Mexico between Hunter, his father, and Mexico's then-president Enrique Pena Nieto. This is all confirmed via Hunter's correspondence at the time.
Hunter expressed anger when, despite all the high-profile meetings, Magnani didn't pursue the relationship.
"I have brought every single person you have ever asked me to bring to the F'ing White House and the Vice President's house and the inauguration and then you go completely silent," Hunter wrote in the email.
"I don't know what it is that I did but I'd like to know why I've delivered on every single thing you've ever asked - and you make me feel like I've done something to offend you," Hunter wrote.
Hunter's correspondence shows that he spoke to his father directly about business dealings, like those with Slim. Then-Vice President Biden also met with "former Columbia President Andrés Pastrana Arango and Eric Schwerin, the former president of Hunter’s since-dissolved investment fund Rosemont Seneca Partners, at Joe’s Naval Observatory residence on March 2, 2012." Schwerin additionally made 27 White House visits during Biden's term as VP.
A guest list for a dinner with Hunter's Ukrainian business associates, such as Vadym Pozharskyi, Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov and his wife, Russian billionaire Yelena Baturina, was attended by Joe Biden.
In 2013, Hunter introduced Joe to his Chinese business partner Jonathan Li, of Bohai Capital. In 2014, Hunter introduced Joe to Manuel Estrella, a Latin American business partner. Biden also met with Francis Person, who was with the Harves Group. Person had been an advisor to Biden, but was also affiliated with his son, Hunter.
Joe Biden met with John Kerry's step-son Chris Heinz, who was also doing business with Hunter. Devon Archer, Hunter's former Burisma business partner who was sentenced to federal prison, not only visited Joe Biden in the White House, but went golfing with him, and Hunter, out in the Hamptons.
