In a recent podcast with guest comedian Tom Papa, Joe Rogan said that he is seriously considering moving from Los Angeles, California to Texas due to the state's coronavirus restrictions.
Officials in L.A. have recently said the stay-at-home order will continue until August "with all certainty."
Rogan mentioned that he has already talked about the idea with fellow comedians Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen, adding that if California continues to be as restrictive as it is then he’s not sure it’s a good place to live.
He also pointed to how expensive it is to live in California and that comedians may not be able to do stand up until 2022, given the restrictions on opening comedy clubs and theatres.
“If they really say that we can't stand up until 2022,” he said, “I might jet.. I’m not kidding, I’m not kidding this is silly. I don’t need to be here.”
When speaking about where he might live in Texas, Rogan said he wasn't sure but he likes Austin, Dallas and Houston.
At time of writing, California is currently the state with the fifth most coronavirus cases, while Texas is eighth in that nation. Texas has already begun reopening in phases, while California is delaying that until August.
