Joe Rogan commented on the Trudeau government's use of the Emergencies Act and the new powers that were announced by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland that include the ability to freeze bank accounts sans liability.
The comments were made during an episode with comedian Brian Moses and rapper Freddie Gibbs, where he was discussing humans' tendencies to drift toward more control in government.
"People like to control people," he said. "It doesn't matter if they're Russian, or Chinese, or American."
"... Take a look at what's going on in Canada. They froze the assets of all those people who contributed to the truckers who were trying to protest. What are doing? They froze the assets. They froze people's assets. I don't know if they released them," he said, to the disbelief of his guests.
"Canada's a democracy, right?" asked guest Brian Moses
"... Running thing and ruling over people's gotta be very f*cking complicated," Rogan continued, saying that it was a "normal human impose" for government's to tell people to "shut the f*ck up."
"'We're gonna impose this, we're gonna impose this law, we're gonna keep this law...' You're not supposed to be able to do that, and the people that voted with them, you're not supposed to give people new powers," he said.
"The amount of powers they have is enough. those powers are supposed to be reserved for terrorist attacks and sh*t, people trying to overthrow the government, not people who are protesting. You have to be able to tolerate a certain amount of protesting. There has to be discourse, cause otherwise, you're going to make new laws to make your life convenient and easy."
Rogan had previously criticized Trudeau for his demonization of the unvaccinated: "The way Trudeau talks about people who are unvaccinated ... he says that they were misogynists and racists... You are deciding—you're taking people that have a perspective on a medical intervention, and you're deciding that you're gonna demonize them in the worst possible ways with no evidence!" Rogan continued.
