Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said members of UCP caucus had "free will" as to whether or not they should get the COVID vaccine.

Kenney, who is vaccinated, said that no one in his caucus was being "compelled" to get the vaccine, but that there would be large advertising and awareness campaigns coming to Albertans soon, that will include some "fresh messaging."

"I’ve gone out there as premier to demonstrate that I got vaccinated as quick as I was qualified because I do think it’s my role as head of government to set an example, but I really don’t think people are going to be influenced one way or another by what politicians do on this," said Kenney on Friday.

Kenney added that he has heard no doubts or vaccine skepticism form members of his caucus.

"My colleagues, as far as I know, intend to get vaccinated and have as soon as they have been eligible."

Alberta is approaching the 2 million threshold for vaccines administered.
