Erin O'Toole announces new Conservative Party Shadow Cabinet, includes role for Andrew Scheer

Newly elected Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O'Toole announced his Shadow Cabinet this morning. It contains MP's that are older and experienced while providing new responsibilities to young MP's

Some of the big names that have either been brought into, shifted or stayed in a critic role are Michelle Rempel Garner, (Health), Pierre Poilievre (Finance) and former leader Andrew Scheer (Infrastructure and Communities).

Learned and long-time Conservative MP's like Peter Kent (Employment) also find a place in O'Toole's team of critics.

Valuable Conservative MPs who supported Peter MacKay in the leadership election have also been given important assignments. Pierre Paul-Hus, who was last Shadow Minister of Public Safety, has been flipped into the role of Public Services and Procurement, and James Bezan (National Defence) hold positions among a team of many O'Toole leadership endorsers.

This new Shadow Cabinet also features young faces like Eric Melillo (Northern Affairs), who was elected last election and is the youngest MP in Canada's history at 21 years of age.

In a statement, O'Toole said that the group is "the Conservative government-in-waiting that will defeat Justin Trudeau's corrupt Liberal government in the next election."

Shadow Ministers will now assume their portfolios and join together today in Ottawa for their first meeting. The full list of Shadow Cabinet members can be found on the Conservative Party's website.
