Leftist publication The Daily Beast reported on Thursday that One America News host Jack Posobiec “pushed a hoax about pipe bombs being planted at Korean War Memorial.”
The article, penned by Will Sommer, says Washington DC resident and military veteran Jack Posobiec manufactured the story about the pipe bombs. Posobiec tweeted on Wednesday: “2 crates filled with pipe bombs discovered near Korean War Memorial in DC after suspects spotted in bushes. Federal assets in pursuit.”

The tweet, which went viral with over 63,000 likes, confirmed the suspicions of many people watching the riots unfold throughout the United States. Across various cities, police officers have been shot at, run over by vehicles, and assaulted with a variety of homemade fireworks and other makeshift weapons. Some, like retired police captain David Dorn, lost their lives.
The Daily Beast writer argued that Posobiec’s reporting justified increased police presence in cities besieged by riots and attempted to debunk the claim by emailing the US Park Police and the DC Metropolitan Police Department for comment.
“But the pipe bombs were totally made up. US Park Police spokesman Sgt. Eduardo Delgado told The Daily Beast in an email that the Park Police never discovered any pipe bombs near the memorial. Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department also had no reports of pipe bombs at the memorial, a spokesperson said Tuesday,” wrote Sommer.
Sommer claimed that “his tweet appears to have wasted law enforcement resources at a crucial time, as Park Police officers scrambled to find the nonexistent pipe bombs” but discovered none at the Korean War Memorial.
Sommer did not contact the National Guard or any of the various federal agencies now deployed to DC for the crisis. It’s not surprising that official spokesmen would seek to downplay the threat. The Daily Beast, a site best known for peddling Trump-Russia hoaxes for years, does not seem to have done any original reporting other than obtaining a denial from a government spokesman.
The city of Washington DC was rocked by multiple explosions during the past few nights of rioting.
Washington, D.C. has not been safe for four nights now. A car was literally just hit with an explosive in front of my #washingtondc home. @MayorBowser and your team need to catch these garbage humans destroying this city. Arrests and charges needed #WashingtonDCRiots #Washington https://t.co/HaxUvK3zfN pic.twitter.com/YdiGiyHWu9

As we listen to the explosions all over NW DC tonight was @JackPosobiec absolutely correct with his reporting of pipe bombs found stashed in at least one location?

I spoke to Posobiec today, and he backed up the statement he made on Twitter with evidence to support his reporting from law enforcement sources that provided the location and details of the pipe bombs. Posobiec stated that he was very specific with his claim that the pipe bombs were discovered near the Korean War Memorial, not at the exact site.
Posobiec says that neither agency contacted by Sommer were the ones involved in the discovery and pursuit of the explosive cache. “Obviously every agency in the country is almost operating in the confines of DC,” said Posobiec, who said that not every agency was in full communication with one another.
Posobiec added that Sommer did not offer him an off-the-record phone call to clarify his claims, and simply sent an email to him accusing him of making it all up.
