Liquor stores remove Russian vodka from inventory

The Jacob Liquor Exchange store on Rock Road in Wichita, Kansas has removed three different brands of Russian vodka from its shelves on Friday in protest of that country's invasion of neighboring Ukraine on Wednesday.

In a similar move up north, the minority leader for the Ontario provincial government in Canada called for the province's state-run liquor stores to do the same thing, saying "our allies in Ukraine are under attack by Russia and need our help."

According to local outlet KY3, "...one of the partners of the store, Jamie Stratton, says it took three different Russian branded vodkas off its shelves Friday Morning."

"It may seem like, 'what is this going to accomplish?'" commented Stratton to KY3, continuing:

"I don’t really know, but I know a lot of people in the U.S. have strong feelings about what’s happening. I certainly do, and the other thing is, there’s no idea where this will escalate to."

Stratton continued, iterating that, to him, even the smallest of gestures can help contribute to positive change:

"It’s not impacting us the way it’s impacting Ukraine, but in the long run, it’s aggressive and it’s causing a lot of problems across the world, and something needs to be done."

Over the weekend, stores across the US and Canada, have been removing Russia vodka from shelves. Pennsylvania’s state-controlled liquor stores were even ordered to remove Russian-made alcohol by the Liquor Control Board.
