Police say that a 28-year-old man had been released from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex only hours before he was allegedly caught breaking into a Milton home on Tuesday, CP24 reports.
Halton Regional Police say that they received a call about a break and enter on December 8 sound 5:30 pm. The man entered the home through the front door and was confronted by the homeowner.
Police say "the suspect fled on foot and was arrested by HRPS officers a short-distance away." Following the arrest, an investigation found that the suspect had just been released from prison. The jail is 2.7 kilometers away from the home.
Police identified the suspect as Olusegun Onidare, who has now been taken back into custody and charged with one count of breaking and entering. He will remain in custody until his bail hearing.
Police are asking those with information to call Det. Darren Joyce at 905-825-4747, ext. 2476.
