Man hospitalized after sword attack in Vancouver: police

Police say that the stabbing took place near Main and Hastings street on the downtown's east side.

Vancouver Police say that a man is in hospital after being attacked by a swordsman on Sunday.

Police say that the 34-year-old victim was "stabbed multiple times" by the person wielding the weapon.

Police say that the stabbing took place near Main and Hastings street on the downtown's east side.

Police told CTV News that they were called to a social housing building at around 9 pm by staff after reports that a fight was turning violent.

No details were provided on the man's condition, though he is expected to recover. His injuries were serious, and the man was slipping in and out of consciousness as he was being brought to hospital.

Police have a suspect, who they say is known to police. Police say that the incident was targeted.
