A man who broke into a Winnipeg seniors home has been arrested. His robbery turned violent after he punched 94-year-old woman in the face and attacked an 81-year-old man with bug-spray and a broom handle, according to Global News.

The man was able to sneak into the seniors complex as a visitor exited a door at the 200-block of Pacific Avenue, according to police. He entered the complex on March 21 around 4 p.m, from there he proceeded to roam through the building checking to see what doors to suites were unlocked.

The suspect was able to enter the suite of a 94-year-old woman and once inside, he punched her and began to steal various personal items.

From there, the suspect proceeded to enter another suite, that of an 81-year-old man, whom he sprayed in the face with bug spray before hitting him in the face with a broom handle.

The assailant then fled the complex with additional stolen belongings from the second suite.

As for the victims, the 94-year-old woman declined to have any medical attention, however the 81-year-old man required treatment and was taken to hospital.

After police conducted an investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested on Thursday.

Stacy Patrick Playfair, 44, was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of break and enter to commit robbery, assault, break and enter to commit theft, and failing to comply with the conditions of a release. He remains detained in custody.
