In a rather dystopian act of surveillance, Greater Manchester police flew a drone equipped with thermal imaging over a home in the city's suburbs in order to stop a gathering of 200+ young people.
The flyover ended with a simple 100 pound fine for the property owner, a 27-year-old Manchester woman.
Salford Magistrates Court also issued a three-month closure order barring access to the property to everyone except the property owner and tenant.
The cost of the operation is unknown but the cost of similar drones can retail around 19,500 US dollars.
This war-zone tactic comes at a time when citizens of all countries are becoming increasingly worried about the state’s intervention in their lives, particularly with new sweeping pandemic related legislation that bolsters the power of the police.
