Former employees of the Cozy Corner daycare in Kimball Township, Michigan have alleged that the owner's husband, Timothy Vanbuskirk, is a registered sex offender.
"One of the employees in a different room who was pretty much the lead staffer, came to me with a printed out piece of paper that was his sex offender registry," Bridget Huff, a former employee, told FOX 2 Detroit. "I was so horrified I called my husband at the time that I was going to quit and not go back for one more single day."
Huff says she worked at the Cozy Corner Daycare for just one year in 2001, and that Vanbuskirk would show up to the daycare several times a week.
"He was in there on a regular basis," said Huff. "He would relieve us when it was time for our breaks or our lunch. He was alone with my infant daughter several times. When he would come in he would immediately take a child out of my arms. He never came in and just sat down. He was always touching someone."
An anonymous source who had previously worked at the Cozy Corner said she quit after learning about Vanbuskirk's status as a registered sex offender.
"He was constantly on the property fixing rooms, leaks in the building, all different kinds of stuff, so he was always on the property," the anonymous source said.
Vanbuskirk is, in fact, a Tier 3 sex offender. He was convicted in 1994 of 4th degree sexual conduct with a minor.
Vanbuskirk is "required to report in person to verify his registry four times a year," reports FOX 2, with him last doing so last week.
In 2015, an investigation into the Cozy Corner found that they had committed 18 violations after a toddler escaped through an open door, and was walking in public alone.
