After years of being unable to maintain the level of media attention he once received in 2016, Milo Yiannopoulos has found a way to grab headlines once again. He has officially come out as “ex-gay” and says he has plans to open a conversion therapy center in Florida.
He claims he “would like to help rehabilitate what the media calls “conversion therapy” over the next decade. Conversion therapy is currently banned in 20 states, and in some areas of Florida.
Yiannopoulos states, “I treat it like an addiction. You never stop being an alcoholic... I hope people will support and pray for me, if for no other reason than they share my delight at the prospect of Milo Yiannopoulos furiously and indignantly railing against homosexuals for sins of the flesh.”
While it’s unclear whether or not this is one of his trolls, it’s important to note that the use of conversion therapy is highly controversial and unproven to successfully change a person’s sexuality. It has been widely banned in large part due to high amounts of abuse that has occurred within these facilities, such as electroshock therapy, physical assault, and rape.
