In contrast to the distancing from President Biden by Gold Star families of the fallen soldiers who died in Afghanistan last month, at least one family has openly invited former President Trump to their son’s funeral.
Former President Trump wasn’t clear as to whether or not he’d attend the funeral service for fallen Marine Kareem Nikoui on September 18th.
But back on Monday he did respond to his mother’s invitation to attend by saying "Thank you Shana — our Country loves you and especially loves your beautiful boy, Kareem."
This was her original invite from September 2nd.
The anger from Kareem’s mother quickly became known after Instagram (incorrectly) deleted Shana Chappell’s Instagram account. At the time this all happened, she made a Facebook post directly addressed to President Biden.
In it Chappell expressed the following.
It was from that post that former President Trump first replied to Shana Chappell.
On August 31st he said: "Shana, you are 100 [percent] correct. If I were President, your wonderful and beautiful son Kareem would be with you now, and so would the sons and daughters of others, including all of those who died in the vicious Kabul airport attack. Civilians should have been brought out first, along with our $85 billion of equipment, with the Military coming out very safely after all was clear. I love you, and I love Kareem."
Kareem Nikoui and twelve other military members lost their lives last month in an ISIS suicide bombing that also killed hundreds of Afghans in the blast.
The first we heard about the parents of the slain Marine was by the Daily Beast in the days following the Kabul bombing. It was his father Steve that broke the news to the rest of the family.
The elder Nikoui remarked: "They sent my son over there as a paper pusher and then had the Taliban outside providing security. I blame my own military leaders… Biden turned his back on him. That’s it."
As for the Biden administration currently, they’re between a rock and a hard place. While yesterday White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki refuted using the phrase "hostages" to describe Americans still stuck in Afghanistan — today Secretary of State Antony Blinken admitted that the Taliban isn’t allowing charter flights to leave Kabul.
The new Taliban government in Afghanistan is staffed with previous ‘most wanted’ terrorists, but the lack of women on it is the White House’s concern.
