Iqra Khalid, a Liberal MP and a Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights member, announced on Twitter that a motion has been put forward to have Jody Wilson-Raybould appear before the committee.
Last week the Liberal-majority Justice Committee shuffled through a motion to have several witnesses appear for questioning on allegations of political interference in the SNC-Lavalin affair behind closed doors.
Since the allegations broke, Jody Wilson-Raybould has cited her solicitor-client privilege as a reason for her silence on the matter. Despite calls for the Prime Minister to wave her privilege, the Prime Minister has yet to do so. According to the current Attorney General, he is looking into the legalities of the matter.
Alongside the justice committee investigation, the ethics commissioner is also conducting his own independent investigation into the allegations.
Excluded from that list were key members of the Prime Minister's Office like Gerald Butts, and the former Justice Minister herself, Jody Wilson-Raybould.
Since the story of alleged political interference in the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin affair broke Gerald Butts has resigned from his position as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and Jody Wilson-Raybould has resigned from her position as the Minister of Veterans Affairs.
