Following the torching of a future Atlanta police training facility by Antifa-linked extremists On Sunday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene condemned the attack, calling for Antifa to officially be declared a terrorist organization.

"Antifa attacked the Atlanta future Public Safety Training Facility. This is domestic terrorism," Greene tweeted on Sunday evening.

"It was planned for weeks and announced on social media. Antifa are self proclaimed communists and consistently organize to attack our government over and over again. They should be taken seriously and not tolerated anymore," she added.

In a follow-up tweet Greene wrote, "Antifa are domestic terrorists and I'm introducing my resolution to officially declare them a terrorist organization on Tuesday."

Greene pledged to introduce the new legislation in January, telling Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, "America is sick and tired of Antifa" following riots held across the country in response to an extremist being killed by police on the training facility grounds known as "cop city" after he pulled a gun on responding officers.

“Look at what they've done over years now. Just from 2020, they're responsible for nearly 2 billion in damage and many people dead,” she continued.

Greene later added, "Well, it's time to do something about Antifa, and that's why I'm going to introduce legislation to declare Antifa domestic terrorists because they need to be taken apart. We need to investigate exactly who they are, who funds them, and then we need to make sure that whenever they come out and erupt in violence, attacking police officers and attacking businesses in cities like my city Atlanta in Georgia, we need to make sure that they're arrested and charged with domestic terrorism charges just like the GBI [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] did this past weekend."

On Sunday, the self-proclaimed "forest defenders" who have illegally occupied the site of Atlanta's future Public Safety Training Facility, with many of the extremists being charged with domestic terrorism for their attacks on police officers, set the construction site ablaze. At least one construction vehicle was set on fire.

In a statement released on Sunday, Atlanta Police said that "a group of violent agitators used the cover of a peaceful protest of the proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Center to conduct a coordinated attack on construction equipment and police officers."

"They changed into black clothing and entered the construction area and began to throw large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks at police officers.

"The agitators destroyed multiple pieces of construction equipment by fire and vandalism. Multiple law enforcement agencies deployed to the area and detained several people committing illegal activity. 35 agitators have been detained so far," the statement continued.

Police said that the "illegal actions of the agitators" could have resulted in the harm of officers and others. Police used non-lethal enforcement to conduct arrests.

"With protests planned for the coming days, the Atlanta Police Department, in collaboration with law enforcement partners, have a multi-layered strategy that includes reaction and arrest," the statement added. "The Atlanta Police Department asks for this week’s protests to remain peaceful."

The police’s statement referenced a "week of action" planned by extremists at the training site was organized in advance, with the group associated with the occupation posting flyers for the week on Twitter.
