A pregnant woman was shot multiple times and lost her unborn child in Fayetteville, North Carolina in February.

25-year-old Brittany Rich was shot seven times by three men standing outside the Cumberland Food Mart. Security camera footage shows Rich leaving the store when one of the suspects demanded her keys from her, and shot her, according to WRAL News.

"The guy said, 'Give me that!' and grabbed my keys," she recalled. "I thought he was playing, because he was young. And then I went, like, to reach after him, and he shot me."

After being shot, she stumbled around the car for protection and went back inside the store for help.

The suspects fled on foot as they failed to start Rich's car.

Rich was taken to the hospital, where doctors told her she was shot twice in the elbow, thigh, lower back, and in the stomach.

She was four months pregnant and lost her unborn child due to the damage done by the bullet wounds. She had stomach surgery and received 13 staples.

Authorities are investigating the case and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

The people responsible for shooting Rich could face murder charges for the death of her unborn child, according to the Cumberland County District Attorney.

No arrests have been made still, as of May 1, 2023.
