A Nova Scotia police officer has been charged with child pornography offences following a report from the province's police watchdog, The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT), Global News reports.
SiRT says they were contacted on March 3 with information regarding the officer's possession of child pornography, wherein an investigation was promptly started. Additional information, which has yet to be made public, was given to SiRT.
Following the investigation, Const. Jeffrey Hirsch of the Southwest Nova District RCMP is facing six charges. Charges include possession and distribution of child pornography.
Hirsch has been suspended with pay, and is set to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 12, 2020.
