Attacks against Asians have skyrocketed across the US, and 61-year-old Yao Pan Ma is yet another victim of a horrific attack that happened last week in New York City which left him in a medically-induced coma as he fights for his life.

Last Friday, a civilian called 911 after finding Yao Pan Ma lying unconscious in the street. First responders quickly arrived on-scene and took the victim to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The video shows Yao Pan Ma pushing a shopping cart full of recyclable materials when his attacker struck him in the back unprovoked, knocking him to the ground, and proceeded to stomp on his head at least six times.

Footage from surrounding security cameras showed Yao’s attacker quickly fleeing the scene after forcefully beating him to the point of unconsciousness.

The New York Police Department released images of the unidentified black male responsible for the attack on Monday and asked the public for help identifying the suspect.

This incident is being investigated by the New York Police Department Hate Crimes Task Force.
