The NYPD are currently seeking a black male suspect who drew a swastika on a Manhattan office building earlier this month. According to an NYPD tweet Monday evening, the man is wanted for aggravated harassment.
Authorities released the following surveillance footage to aid in that effort. It shows the suspect briskly writing on the "NO SMOKING" sign with a marker, tagging it with the swastika symbol, then walking off camera.
Per WCBS 880, what's known about the incident is that it happened on March 10 at 3:40 pm at 450 Lexington Avenue near Grand Central Station in Manhattan. After drawing the swastika, the suspect fled on foot southbound.
"The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man who wore a gray and yellow hooded sweater, dark-colored pants, and sneakers," the outlet says.
FOX 5 adds that the building in question is an office building that features businesses like a post office and a law firm. Anyone with further information is directed to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
Last month, Crime Stoppers put out a request for information about a similar incident in East Harlem. In that case the suspect included an "anti-Black message" alongside his drawings of the symbol. A separate situation around the same time late February shows a man caught on surveillance footage walking up to the door of the Broadway theater and drawing swastikas.
Washington, DC, faced their own swastika graffiti at Union Station in early February, and it turned out to be allegedly done by an illegal migrant from Mexico that couldn't be deported under the policies of the Biden administration.
