Toronto Police say they received multiple 9-1-1 calls at around 7:30 Sunday night that alerted them of gun shots at 23 Mt Olive Drive, a townhouse complex in North Etobicoke.
Officers responded in less than a minute and tended to two males in their early 20s who were found with bullet wounds, CP24 reports.
Inspector Tim Crone told reporters that one man was pronounced dead on the scene and another is in critical condition at Sunnybrook Hospital.
Toronto Police are looking for two suspects that fled in a vehicle that they described as a black SUV.
"It was right at twilight, so a lot of a lot of kids are still out with their families, and again it was a very cowardly, brazen act with absolutely zero regard for safety," Crone told reporters.
Crone says that the police are asking for two people who were also present at the time of the shooting to come forward. He believes that they were also victims and could have helpful information.
"We would like to speak to them as well again to find out who they are and make sure that they're not injured themselves," Crone told reporters.
Crone said Toronto Police will try and utilize CCTV surveillance footage from the area to also help with the investigation.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers.
