Canadian Broadway and television actor, Nick Cordero, has died at the age of 41 after contracting Covid-19 and spending months in intensive care. He was from Hamilton, Ontario. This according to BBC.
Cordero starred in the broadway shows, A Bronx Tale, Waitress and Bullets Over Broadway, the latter of which garnered him a Tony nomination.
His wife, Amanda Kloots, posted on Instagram an expression of her grief, writing, "My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him."
She had written earlier in his struggle with the illness that he had awoken from a medically induced coma in May but that he remained "extremely weak."
Cordero's time in the hospital was arduous, he suffered sepsis infections and mini-strokes and his right leg was amputated.
"God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth," wrote Kloots, confirming Cordero's passing.
She said her memories of her husband will be that he was a "bright light" and as someone who was "everyone's friend." She also took a moment to show her gratitude for Cordero's "extraordinary" doctor and all his fans for "the outpour of love, support and held we've received."
Kloots kept Cordero's spirits high while in the hospital by sending him videos of her and their one-year-old son Elvis and she also encouraged fans to partake in a daily sing-a-long.
A fundraising page was launched to help them out with their medical expenses which raised over $600,000.
Many other celebrities took to social media to share their thoughts and condolences for the loss of Cordero.
"My condolences to you Amanda who fought and loved so hard... so sorry for his little one. My heart is with you." tweeted Oscar-winner Viola Davis.
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote: "Devastating. What a loss, what a light. Whole heart with Amanda and his family tonight."
Actor Josh Gad wrote, "My heart is broken. I feel ill. Along with the entire Broadway community and the entire world, I mourn the loss of the incredible Nick Cordero."
"I'm so shocked to see the news today that Nick has passed. My heart and soul goes out to Nick Cordero's beautiful wife and family. Rest In Peace, Nick." tweeted Pricilla Presley.
"I can honesty tell you I have never met a kinder human being," said Zach Braff, former star of Scrubs. "Don't believe that Covid only claims the elderly and infirm."
Cordero also starred in the film Going in Style alongside Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin as well as an acting on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He was from Hamilton, Ontario.
