Ontario's education minister and chief medical officer of health will make an announcement today as millions of students remain out of school due to exaggerated fears of COVID-19.
Minister Stephen Lecce and Dr David Williams will be making the announcement at 11 am via a news conference. As of now, only 520,000 of Ontario's two million students have been allowed to return to school for in-person learning, CP 24 reporteds.
Students in Toronto, Peel Region, Hamilton, York Region, and Windsor will continue with remote learning until at least February 10. As of now, it is unclear if the announcement will have anything to do with the opening of schools in more regions.
Ontario remains the only province in the entire country where schools are closed for in-person learning, something that is concerning health experts as schools have been found to be safe and school closures have found to be unbelievably harmful to the health of students.
