Ontario kidnapping leads to the arrest of three adults and two minors

In London, Ontario, three adults and two youths have been arrested by London Police in connection with the kidnapping of a teenage boy on Tuesday evening, according to CTV News.

The kidnapping took place at the victim's residence. Two boys, aged 15 and 16, picked up the victim at his house around 6 p.m. and drove him to a residence on Cartier Road, according to police.

The kidnappers took a video of themselves holding the victim at gunpoint and sent these videos to the victim's family using the Snapchat app. In the video, the suspects demanded money from the victim's family in exchange for returning the boy safely.

The victim's family promptly called London Police after receiving the video. Police were able to locate the suspect's vehicle around 12 a.m. and arrested two suspects, an adult male and an adult female. The suspects were located near Highbury Avenue and Huron Street.

Shortly after the arrests, the young victim was located in the east end of London, he was uninjured.

Upon investigation, a second adult male was arrested along with two youths. On Wednesday afternoon a search warrant was executed by Major Crime Section which led to the discovery of the loaded firearm, presumably the one used in the ransom video.

All five suspects have been charged and police believe the incident was planned and that all parties involved knew each other prior to the kidnapping. Three suspects, a 22-year-old man, 19-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, as well as the two teenagers are charged with nine offences.

They are: kidnapping for ransom or service, pointing a firearm, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration, possess loaded regulated firearm, extortion, assault with a weapon, use of a firearm in the commission of an offence, and forcible confinement.
