A Liberal candidate for the upcoming Ontario election was fired after the province's NDP discovered that he had made comments on Facebook that disparaged gay people.
Alec Mazurek, who was running for the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington, was terminated as candidate just hours before the deadline set by Elections Ontario.
Liberal leader Stephen Del Duca said on Thursday that he was not aware of the posts made by Mazurek, but told press that he would take action if such comments were provable.
Mazurek was fired hours later.
The firing comes just hours after a Liberal candidate was dropped for Parry Sound-Muskoka, after he had made comments in a self-published book that had scientifically baseless views on homosexuality.
Another Liberal candidate was also dropped in Sault Ste. Marie where he partook in a discussion where people joked about "dying of AIDS," reports the Canadian Press.
