A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to just seven years in prison after a 2019 New Years eve collision in Markham, Ontario left a 68-year-old man dead.
Police said Stanley Choy of Newmarket, Ontario crashed his white Hyundai Veloster into a Toyota being driven by a man from Whitchurch-Stouffville at 7:30pm on December 31.

Emergency responders arrived and the older man driving the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not released.
Choy was taken into custody on suspicion of impaired driving immediately after the collision. He was later charged with impaired operation of a vehicle causing death, operation of a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
Along with the seven years Choy will spend in prison, he will be given a a ten-year driving probation.
