Today, 111 new cases of coronavirus were reported by Ontario health officials, which is the lowest recorded number since March 25.

Ontario’s new total of confirmed cases now stands at 34,316, which is an increase of 0.3 percent over the previous day’s total. There were 189 new cases reported on Thursday.

The daily total of new coronavirus cases has remained fairly low throughout the week as Ontario has reported less than 200 confirmed cases per day with the exception of Tuesday.

“While very welcome news, we shouldn’t draw too many conclusions from one day of data,” noted Ontario’s minister of health, Christine Elliott in a tweet posted on Friday morning.

“We’ll continue to keep a close eye on what is hopefully the continuation of our downward trend," Elliott said.

Ontario now has 1,918 current coronavirus cases as well as 226 resolved cases. To date, the province has seen 29,754 recoveries.

In the last 24-hours, there have been three reported deaths, bringing the total death toll to 2,644.

The epidemiologic summary released on Friday, shows that 256 patients are currently receiving treatment in Ontario hospitals. Of those patients, 61 are receiving treatment in ICU and 41 are on ventilators.
