The Human Rights Campaign has been forced to denounce their own praise of Chicago Mayor Lightfoot, who is an openly gay woman of color. In a since-deleted tweet, the HRC merely praised Lightfoot as a role model LGBTQ leader.

A screenshot of the tweet from an outraged LGBTQ follower shows the LGBTQ organization saying, "It's great to see @loriLightfoot–the nation's first Black, openly lesbian mayor of a major city–take the virtual stage and address racial violence in our country through an intersectional lens. #DemConvention"

In a follow-up tweet, quoting the original, the HRC pleaded, "Our tweet was intended to recognize the first Black lesbian mayor of a major city participating in the DNC, not endorse any local policy/action. We have called for transforming policing & don't endorse policies that stop short of that regardless of the elected official."

When that was not enough, they deleted both tweets and stated, "We believe in holding ourselves accountable and ensuring our actions are reflective of our intent. An earlier tweet was troubling to people who viewed it as prioritizing visibility of LGBTQ people over the policies that impact us—especially QTBIPOC. And so we have removed it."

They continued, "Our actions and statements carry impact, regardless of intent. The platform we possess and work we do must reflect all the marginalized identities we carry and work to effect change that betters society. We will continue to make and create space for those often silenced." For reference, QTBIPOC stands for, "Queer, Trans Black Indigenous People of Color."

Apparently, LGBTQ activists and supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement are angry with Lightfoot for being too "pro-police."

Appearing on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday to address recent violence and looting in Chicago, Mayor Lightfoot said, "What we’ve seen in cities all across the country, not just Chicago, is a continuing wave of protests. The vast majority of these have been peaceful. But what we've also seen is people who have embedded themselves in these seemingly peaceful protests and come for a fight," the mayor said.

"So what happened yesterday was really over very fairly quickly because our police department is resolved to make sure that we protect peaceful protests. But we are absolutely not going to tolerate people who come to these protests looking for a fight and are intending to injure our police officers and injure innocent people who just come to be able to express their First Amendment rights."

Leftwing activists have accused the mayor of targeting protestors and abusing policing powers. Teen Vogue writer, Kelly Hayes tweeted, "While I was falling asleep watching TV last night, Chicago cops were viciously attacking protesters. Again. Y'all who rode for Lori Lightfoot need to own this mess and hold her accountable. Don't be craven & pathetic like her sycophants who get on here & make fools of themselves."

Ali Abunimah, a pro-palestinian activist who runs a website called "electronicintifada.net" tweeted to his 100k followers, "I’m reporting tweets from @Chicago_Police doxxing people arrested in the context of protests by posting their home addresses and photos. This is absolutely outrageous and one more reason we cannot be rid of @chicagosmayor fast enough."

Confirming the internal battles within the leftwing social justice movement, Chicago Tribune journalist, Gregory Pratt reported, "Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot will be part of "A Conversation with Vice President Biden on Racial Justice" during tonight's DNC. This comes as Black Lives Matter critics push for defunding city police and after Chicago cops clashed with protesters."

Ironically, activist Isabelia Herrera condensed the emotions perfectly in a tweet arguing, "[T]hinking abt my city's long history of resistance, thinking about the Black and brown organizers who continue to fight to protect their streets, thinking abt lightfoot and the ways the logic of representation is a poison."

It seems to the growing radical left that its no longer enough to be a person of color, LGBTQ or a woman, you must be an activist just like them, adhering to their same views, otherwise you are their enemy. To imagine the Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ organization in the country, would have to plead for forgiveness for celebrating the first black lesbian mayor of a major city tells you how far left the left has really gone.
