Ottawa police arrest teacher accused of sexually assaulting girls under age of 14

Rick Watkins, 57, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation of a young person(s).

Ottawa police have arrested an area teacher and charged him with sexual assault for incidents involving girls under the age of 14.

Police say the incidents took place between fall of 2020 and March 2021.

The incidents took place while the teacher worked within the Ottawa Catholic School Board.

Rick Watkins, 57, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault, sexual interference, and sexual exploitation of a young person(s).

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section is concerned that there may be more victims, and those with information are asked to call 613-236-1222 ext. 5944.
