Surveillance footage of four suspects who allegedly invaded a home and were involved in an East York shooting has been released by Toronto police. The shooting left two people with life-altering injuries, according to CP24.
Investigators say that on July 26, three armed men and a woman entered an apartment close to Halsey Avenue and Dawes road a little before 2 a.m.
Police said that once in the building, the suspects broke into an apartment and demanded that the occupants give them cash. The group then reportedly shot at the two men in the apartment and hit them a number of times.
Video from the security cameras shows the suspects quickly leaving the building dressed in hoodies and masks.
According to the police, the group left in a relatively new Dodge Ram truck that had black rims and black liner in the truck bed. The vehicle then reportedly traveled south on Dawes Road when it was leaving the scene.
Paramedics transported the two victims to the local hospital where they remained in critical condition.
Insp. Lauren Pogue said the victims are still in the hospital after suffering life-altering injuries.
Police described the first male suspect as "white, 5'8" to 6'0", thin build, possibly has long hair tied back. He was wearing a grey hooded sweater with a blue hood and arms, blue jogging pants and dark shoes."
The second suspect is female and described as "20, brown, 5'8" to 6'0", heavy build. She was wearing a grey hooded sweater with 'Jumpman' logo, blue tights and dark shoes."
The third is male is reportedly "5'8" to 6'0", heavy build. He was wearing a grey sweater with a blue design on the front, dark blue pants and dark shoes."
Police described the fourth suspect as "5'8" to 6'0", thin build. He was wearing a black Adidas hoodie, dark pants and dark shoes."
"The suspects appear to have been familiar with the residence here in the area of Dawes Road and Halsey and may have been granted access to the building by an unknown person," said Insp. Pogue during a news conference on Tuesday morning.
Police confirmed that one of the victims who was shot during the invasion was targeted in a previous shooting that took place close to Overlea Boulevard and Don Mills Road on May 23.
Investigators released a composite sketch of a suspect wanted for the May shooting.
"The persons of interest from both incidents have similar descriptions and the shooting may be related," Pogue noted. "There is a female at both shootings who, when comparing witness descriptions and video surveillance, appears to be the same. Her clothing, her age, and her physical description all match."
