Politico orders staff not to call the Biden border crisis a ‘crisis’

“Avoid referring to the present situation as a crisis, although we may quote others using that language while providing context.”

In the same spirit as mainstream media tried brushing Hunter Biden under the rug, so too they are glossing over America’s current immigration situation.

Biden’s border crisis just this week almost resulted in a child drowning in the Rio Grande river. She was used as a pawn by smugglers, abandoned, and luckily saved by a US Army soldier who happened to spot her.

A grim reality that at least one outlet wants to downplay.

In a report from the Washington Examiner they cite an internal memo from Politico:

"Avoid referring to the present situation as a crisis, although we may quote others using that language while providing context. While the sharp increase in the arrival of unaccompanied minors is a problem for border officials, a political challenge for the Biden administration and a dire situation for many migrants who make the journey, it does not fit the dictionary definition of a crisis. If using the word 'crisis,' we need to ask of what and to whom."

It’s something in the same spirit as what Associated Press suggests. But what Politico dictates is much more immediate. In follow-up questions from Examiner, Politico’s spokespeople made it a terminology fight to try and deflect away from the immediate contents of the memo itself.

The move by establishment media to uphold a public face of meeting the status quo for the Biden administration needs to be taken into account with this graph from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

It shows the increase in migrants coming up through Mexico uptick after Biden entered office.

Days ago reporters got President Joe Biden to describe the US - Mexico situation as a “crisis that ended up on the border with young people.” A gaffe that left White House officials needing to play janitor.

For those unaware it has been an unofficial policy of the Biden administration to deny that the migrant flow at the US border was a crisis. An issue that reached a boiling point in late March as news of a so-called “media blackout” from the White House spilled out. When it came to showing the conditions inside migrant facilities, border authorities were advised to not let the media inside.

Biden wasn’t the only one to slip-up. Back in March, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called the situation at the US - Mexico border a “crisis” seemingly on accident. After a reporter pointed that out to her, Psaki backtracked.
