A recent nationwide poll has revealed that a majority of Americans believe that gender is not on a spectrum, and that biological males should not be allowed to compete against biological women.
The poll, conducted by Competitive Edge Research and obtained by the Daily Caller, polled a total of 1,010 likely voters across the US between July 10 through 20.
Overall, a majority of Americans believe that activists pushing gender and sexual identity issues are "going too far," with 60 percent of one group, who was asked the question at the beginning of the survey, responding as such, and 64 percent of the other group agreeing.
"As you think about the activism on gender and sexual identity issues in the United States over the past few years, do you think the people pushing for change are…," the question asked, with responses being "going too far," about right," and not far enough."
While 81 percent of voters did not have an understanding as to the proposed changes from the Biden administration regarding Title IX, subsequent questions asking about proposed changes to the legislation shows the overall sentiment amongst these respondents as being against the changes.
58 percent of respondents said that gender is not on a spectrum, believing in just biological males and females.
According to the Daily Caller, "These same respondents, and more, don’t believe that gender identity should be an excuse to allow biological men in women’s sports."
"One proposed change to Title IX mandates that schools group students based on their gender identity, not their biological sex," one question states. "Schools would be required to allow biological males who identify as female to participate on girls’ sports teams. Do you favor or oppose this change?"
Overall, 71 percent said they at least somewhat oppose this change. 60 percent said that they "strongly oppose" the proposed change, while 11 percent said they "somewhat oppose it."
Another question asked respondents, "Gender pronouns are the words 'she,' 'her,' 'hers,' 'he,' 'him,' or 'his' used to refer to others. One proposed change to Title IX requires that schools discipline students and teachers as sexual harassers if they fail to use the gender pronoun that another student or teacher prefers. Do you favor or oppose this change?"
75 percent of survey takers said that they at least somewhat oppose this change. 59 percent said they "strongly oppose" the change, while 16 percent said that they "somewhat oppose" it.
The poll also highlights the growing divide between top Democrat issues and Hispanic voters, with a majority of these voters expressing concerns that changes like these to Title IX would lead to increased cases of assault and sexual harassment.
In response to a question regarding letting biological males use the female locker rooms, 73 percent of Hispanic voters said that they would oppose this update to Title IX. 74 percent said they would oppose letting biological male students and staff share sleeping quarters with biological female students as well, with cases of co-habitation on the rise in summer camps and similar places.
Voters from within the Democrat party also expressed skepticism of these Title IX changes, with 59 percent of Democrat voters saying they oppose biological males sharing sleeping quarters with biological females, and 63 percent saying that arrangements like this could lead to increased cases of sexual harassment and assault.
Concerns regarding allowing biological males in female spaces like sleeping quarters and sports have increased in recent months, with sports concerns reaching their peak after biological male Lia Thomas was allowed to compete against females at the NCAA swimming championships.
A number of summer camps have also come under fire for allowing biological male camp attendees as well as staff sleep in female quarters.
