According to an analysis of the poll by Axios and College Reaction, this possibly indicates a surge in interest in voting by younger voters, which could have an impact on this election.
It also means that we could possibly see mass demonstrations in November by students and possibly others in the event of a Trump victory.
"The poll was conducted Oct. 6-7, 2020, from a representative sample of 875 college students. The margin of error is +/- 3.3 percentage points. College Reaction’s polling is conducted using a demographically representative panel of college students from around the country. The surveys are administered digitally," reported Axios.
Young people have historically been have not turned up at the polls in large numbers for elections, with certain exceptions, such as in 2008 for former president Barack Obama’s election. Pundits are predicting a similar phenomenon could happen in 2020.
"Political expression is etched into this generation's DNA "Vote-hooky won't just draw side-eye, it could bruise a student's reputation in some social circles. Civic engagement is cool now," College Reaction founder Cyrus Beschloss said.
In the event of Biden getting elected, just 3 percent of students said they were likely to protest.
